Fawad Warns ‘Deal’ Could Spell Worse Fate for PTI than PML-N or PPP

Deal

Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry has signaled his readiness to return to the party while cautioning against any potential deal between PTI and the establishment, which he believes could lead to worse outcomes than those faced by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Speaking on “News Insight with Amir Zia”, Chaudhry broke his silence on recent developments, criticizing the PTI leadership’s handling of post-May 9th protests.

He highlighted alleged discrepancies in how leadership in Punjab and Karachi were treated compared to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, citing what he described as excessive force and authoritarianism.

Chaudhry indicated that his return to PTI hinges on Imran Khan’s decision upon release, expressing concerns over the current strategy’s potential to prolong Khan’s incarceration.

He lamented missed opportunities in February, claiming that the party should have mobilized nationwide protests against alleged election rigging and promptly responded to revelations like the “Liaquat Letter”.

The former PTI leader stressed the need for a unified opposition to negotiate effectively with the establishment, advocating for alliances including PML-N, PPP, JUI-F, PTI, GDA, and Jamaat-e-Islami.

He argued that such a coalition, representing substantial public support and street power, could compel meaningful dialogue and prevent the government from ignoring their demands.

Chaudhry cautioned that any perceived PTI collaboration with the establishment would alienate anti-establishment sentiment, risking the party’s credibility and popularity.

He criticized the decision to sever ties with the military and urged reconciliation, suggesting an apology regarding past judicial disputes and direct talks with Imran Khan.

Asserting his continued support for Khan’s leadership, irrespective of his own party affiliation, Chaudhry emphasized the stakes for Pakistan’s future.

He defended PTI’s stance on leadership changes in Punjab and accused General Bajwa of influencing political decisions for personal gain, which he claimed led to current challenges.

In conclusion, Chaudhry underscored the critical juncture for PTI and Pakistan, urging strategic decisions to uphold democratic values and public trust amidst turbulent political landscapes.
