ECP declares illegal PTI’s foreign funding, issues show-cause notice, confiscates funds

The ECP said that PTI chairman Imran Khan has submitted wrong affidavit pertaining to the prohibited funding of the party and bank accounts. ECP Chairman said that concealing bank accounts or giving wrong information was violation of the constitution and code of the ECP.

ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja announced the decision. ECP said the PTI has received prohibited funding. The commission has declared illegal Wootten Cricket and other foreign funding.

According to ECP, PTI kept secret 13 bank accounts and not provide their details to the commission.

ECP has issued show-cause to the PTI and notice also issued to confiscate the illegal funds which the PTI has received. According to the verdict, PTI failed to disclose details of 13 bank accounts which were kept secret.

ECP announced the decision at 10:20 am on Tuesday.

The ECP said that PTI chairman Imran Khan has submitted wrong affidavit pertaining to the prohibited funding of the party and bank accounts. ECP Chairman said that concealing bank accounts or giving wrong information was violation of the constitution and code of the ECP.

Meanewhile, Security has been tightened in the federal capital this morning ahead of the announcement of PTI’s prohibited funding case decision.

A three-member bench of the ECP, headed by Chairman of the commission Sikandar Sultan Raja announced the decision. The commission reserved the decision in this case in June this year.

On Monday evening, Election Commission of Pakistan requested the federal government to ensure a foolproof security of the ECP and its surroundings before the decision is announced.

Hundreds of police and FC personnel have been deployed around the ECP and its surroundings to maintain law and order situation.
