ECP asks Imran khan to avoid commenting on Karachi LG polls in Karachi Jalsa

He asserted that a group of criminals had been organizing long-lasting demonstrations against his administration over inflation, but that this “self-centered selfish incompetent government” had broken a record for inflation that had stood for 50 years, worsening the situation for the general public.

“I didn’t have any positions of authority in Pakistan. Cricket was a sport I used to play, but my gear was about 40 years old. I sold my London apartment and sent the proceeds to Pakistan. If a cricket player can show the money trail, why can’t a three-time prime minister?

He claimed that compared to a booming economy under the PTI rule, 20% of Faisalabad’s industries had closed. He bemoaned the fact that Ishaq Dar, who had before ruined the economy, had been brought in from London to bolster it.

“Holding of public gatherings/jalsa, automobile parades, and display of weapons in such jurisdictions—where second phase of LG votes will take place—are specifically banned as per ECP’s rule of conduct,” the statement said.

In this context, the ECP gave the former prime minister advice to abstain from breaking the law and making comments about the LG polls while the jalsa was in session. Imran Khan was also given a warning from the election authority about consequences for breaking the code of conduct.

It is important to note that the Sindh administration begged the election commission once more to postpone the local government elections in Karachi.

The local government elections in the port city have been requested to be postponed by the government for at least three months in a letter to the provincial election commissioner.

The administration recommended that local elections be held in two phases, if not postponed altogether. The letter stated that “the polls may be held in three districts in the first leg and the remaining four districts in the second leg.”
