ISLAMABAD: On Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) took a significant step in preparation for the upcoming general elections in 2024 by activating the Election Management System (EMS) for returning officers (ROs).
Sources indicate that the ROs have initiated their tasks on the Election Management System, marking the commencement of the final phase in the electoral schedule.
Through EMS, the ROs will transmit a conclusive list to the Election Commission of Pakistan, and the system will make available a PDF copy of the candidates’ credentials for the ROs.
Reassuring the public, the ECP declared that all operational and IT systems were functioning “satisfactorily,” and it encountered no difficulties in executing the upcoming general election. The electoral watchdog emphasized its commitment to ensuring smooth operations.
The ECP further disclosed the implementation of an automated and contemporary EMS designed to revolutionize and consolidate election results from presiding to returning officers.
This system underwent rigorous testing for its intended purpose. Additionally, the EMS has been enhanced with extra functions and features to facilitate ROs, ensuring the usability of data even in the initial stages of the polling process.
As the electoral machinery gears up for the 2024 general elections, the activation of EMS signifies a technologically advanced approach to streamline the electoral process and enhance transparency in result compilation.
