Senior PML-N leader and son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Captain (retd) Safdar was arrested from a hotel in Karachi on Monday morning.
“Police broke my room door at the hotel I was staying at in Karachi and arrested Capt. Safdar,”
Maryam Nawaz tweeted.
The PML-N leader was taken into custody after he was booked in a case pertaining to the violation of the sanctity of Mazar-e-Quaid.
The police lodged a case on the complaint of a citizen at Karachi Brigade police station today. Captain (retd) Safdar had chanted slogans like “vote ko izzat do” and the supporters joined him on his call for an extended period of time.
The FIR was registered after 5pm on Sunday.
