Unable to be granted international recognition from the recognized states, Afghanistan has been incapacitated as both traditional and non-traditional security are being compromised. In order to address these precarious issues, nearly 3000 Afghan religious scholars sign a decree to declare an armed aggression against Taliban as “illicit and unlawful”. Additionally, to resolve the legitimacy concerns they pledge allegiance towards Taliban government as rightful leaders of Afghanistan and call for recognizing states to grant recognition.
By virtue of deteriorating security concerns, the joint declaration of Afghan religious scholars state that “We call on the nation that the so-called Isis (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) is a ‘Kharijite’ group of this age that spreads corruption in our Islamic country. Any help or association with them is illegal.”
At the present moment, Taliban government faces existential threat from Islamic State and National Resistance Front of Afghanistan. Another unknown group was also involved in attacking the participants of the scholar’s meeting; however, with an effective response from the security forces all the three assailants were neutralized.
As per the declaration, the scholars proclaim their allegiance to Taliban supreme leader Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada.
Taliban supreme leader Akhundzada arrived in the Kabul for the first time since the Taliban dramatic take over of Afghanistan. Under the aegis of his supporters, he declared foreign involvement as illicit and unlawful, rejecting the foreign pressure on his government.
The supreme leader also discussed the modalities on future policies.
“We call on the Islamic emirate to ensure justice, religious and modern education, health, agriculture, industry, the rights of minorities, children, women and the entire nation in the light of Islamic holy law and all-round development, economic growth and balanced development,” the Pashto-language declaration said.
Additionally, the declaration also professes that Islamic emirate had been emerged from the will of Afghan people, and through this natural selection reasoning, Islamic emirate holds an internal legitimacy.
At the end, the conference demanded the restoration of an international status, removal of sanctions, unfreezing of the legitimate frozen asserts of Afghan people and the support from strong nations in economic development and restructuring of nation building.
It must be come to limelight that the US has frozen the legitimate $9 billion asserts of Afghanistan and they are reluctant to give these rightful asserts to Afghan people. The talks are still on-going between US official and Taliban Foreign Minister in Qatar this week to explore the prospects for the unfreezing of the money.
