In Islamabad, a new FIR has been filed against PTI Chairman Imran Khan at Abpara police station. Imran Khan and many PTI leaders, including Asad Umar, Murad Saeed, Fawad Chaudhary, and Faisal Javed, have been arrested in the federal capital for violating Section 144.
Sheikh Rasheed is also one of the 17 individuals named in the FIR. According to the FIR, Imran Khan and the party leaders violated Section 144. According to the FIR, PTI leaders and nearly 1,000 supporters blocked the road at Imran Khan’s request. It was also stated that Imran Khan and other PTI leaders used loudspeakers.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a show-cause notice to Khan on August 23 after launching contempt of court proceedings against him for threatening Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry during a public rally.
The IHC’s larger bench consists of Justices Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Babar Sattar, and Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb. On August 31, the court summoned Imran Khan and forwarded the case to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, requesting that more judges be added to the bench.
On August 20, the PTI chairman held a rally in the federal capital to express solidarity with his chief of staff, Shahbaz Gill, following allegations of torture in the custody of Islamabad police.
He warned Islamabad’s inspector-general and deputy inspector-general that he would “not spare” them, vowing to file charges against them for allegedly torturing Gill.
He also chastised the additional sessions judge for placing Gill in physical remand at the request of the police, saying she [the judge] should brace herself for the consequences.
