Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially announced Adrian Hamilton-Manns as its new Chief Executive Officer. The appointment marks an important development in the national carrier’s post-privatisation restructuring.
Hamilton-Manns previously served as the chief executive of Oman-based SalamAir. He brings extensive international aviation experience, particularly in managing airline operations and developing low-cost carriers.
The appointment follows the transfer of PIA’s management control to an Arif Habib-led consortium in June 2026. The new management aims to improve operational performance, expand services and strengthen the airline’s financial position.
New CEO Brings International Aviation Experience
Before joining PIA, Hamilton-Manns led SalamAir from July 2024 until September 2026. He also served as chief executive of Kazakhstan’s FlyArystan between 2020 and 2024.
Additionally, he established flyafrica.com, an Africa-focused low-cost airline, in 2012. His professional experience also includes senior commercial positions at IndiGo, South African Airways, Virgin Australia’s Pacific Blue and Indonesia’s Mandala Airlines.
He began his aviation career with Air New Zealand in 1997. Throughout his career, he has gained experience in airline management, commercial operations and business development.
PIA Enters New Phase Under Private Management
The leadership appointment comes as PIA begins implementing its post-privatisation transformation plans. The Arif Habib-led consortium assumed management control after completing the first financial closing in June.
The new owners have committed substantial investment towards fleet expansion and modernisation. They also plan to improve passenger services, strengthen international routes and enhance operational efficiency.
Meanwhile, Hamilton-Manns’ appointment reflects the management’s focus on bringing international aviation expertise into the airline. His leadership will form part of PIA’s broader efforts to improve its commercial operations and competitiveness.
