Petrol prices in Pakistan have increased again, while high-speed diesel has become marginally cheaper under the latest government revision. The new rates take effect on Thursday, October 15, 2026, following changes in international petroleum markets.
The government has raised petrol by Rs1.20 per litre to Rs393.86. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has dropped by Re0.17 to Rs396.65 per litre.
New Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism. The Petroleum Division announced the updated rates in a press release.
The revised prices are as follows:
- Petrol: Rs393.86 per litre, up Rs1.20.
- High-speed diesel: Rs396.65 per litre, down Re0.17.
Previously, petrol cost Rs392.66 per litre, while high-speed diesel sold for Rs396.82. Therefore, motorists will face a small increase in petrol costs, although diesel users will receive a slight reduction.
The new rates will remain effective from October 15, according to the announcement.
Why Have Fuel Prices Changed?
The Petroleum Division attributed the latest adjustments to developments in international markets. These include movements in Platts rates, petroleum premiums and other incidental costs.
The latest revision follows another price adjustment announced on Tuesday. At that time, the government reduced petrol by Rs2.71 per litre to Rs392.66.
It also lowered high-speed diesel by Re0.03, bringing the price to Rs396.82 per litre. However, Wednesday’s revision reversed the direction of petrol prices while introducing another small diesel reduction.
Consequently, motorists will see different effects depending on the fuel they use. Petrol consumers will pay more per litre, whereas diesel users will pay slightly less under the latest rates.
Global Oil Market Developments
Meanwhile, international oil prices stabilised on Wednesday after rising amid heightened geopolitical concerns. Reports of an attack on the headquarters of Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company contributed to market uncertainty.
Comments from Iran also drew attention to new tactics targeting ships. The remarks included claims about keeping oil prices elevated to influence the United States midterm elections.
By 1325 GMT, Brent crude futures had gained 13 cents to reach $105.56 per barrel. At the same time, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose $1.25, or 1.33%, to $95.39 per barrel.
The WTI price reached its highest level in more than two weeks. These movements highlight the uncertainty facing global oil markets as geopolitical developments continue to influence prices.
What the Latest Revision Means for Consumers
The latest adjustment brings a modest increase in petrol costs and a marginal reduction in diesel prices. However, international oil movements and petroleum-related costs remain important factors in Pakistan’s fuel pricing decisions.
For now, motorists should follow the revised rates from October 15 when calculating their fuel expenses. The next adjustment will depend on subsequent government decisions and developments affecting petroleum prices.
