The government revised petrol and high-speed diesel prices on Monday night. The latest rates took effect under the new daily fuel pricing mechanism.
Petrol prices fell by Rs. 0.35 per litre. Consequently, the new petrol price stands at Rs. 315.80 per litre.
Meanwhile, high-speed diesel became more expensive. The government increased its price by Rs. 5.71 per litre to Rs. 360.06.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) later issued an official notification. The notification confirmed the revised fuel prices across the country.
Government Introduces Daily Fuel Price Updates
The government has started updating fuel prices every day. Officials said the daily review system will continue until further notice.
Authorities introduced the move to respond quickly to changing international oil prices. As a result, consumers may now witness frequent fuel price adjustments.
Global Oil Market Faces Fresh Uncertainty
Meanwhile, global crude oil prices remain volatile following renewed tensions involving the United States and Iran.
At the time of reporting, Brent crude traded near $90 per barrel. The market continues reacting to geopolitical developments and supply concerns.
Last week, the government increased petrol prices by Rs. 5.44 per litre. The previous revision pushed petrol to Rs. 316.15 per litre.
During the same review, high-speed diesel rose by Rs. 31.05 per litre. Consequently, its previous price reached Rs. 354.35 per litre.
The latest revision provides slight relief for petrol consumers. However, higher diesel prices may increase transportation and logistics costs across several sectors.
