The federal government has announced a slight reduction in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) under the revised petroleum pricing mechanism.
The new fuel prices were issued through a notification by the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division. Moreover, the revised rates will take effect from midnight and remain applicable from August 1 to August 3, 2026.
Petrol and Diesel Prices Reduced
Under the latest revision, the price of petrol has been reduced by 12 paisas per litre.
As a result, the new petrol price has been fixed at Rs336.03 per litre, compared with the previous rate of Rs336.15 per litre.
Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has also been lowered.
The government reduced the diesel price by 66 paisas per litre. Consequently, the new rate stands at Rs392.38 per litre, down from Rs393.04 per litre.
Although the reductions are modest, they reflect the latest adjustments under the government’s petroleum pricing framework.
Revised Prices Effective From August 1
According to the official notification, the revised fuel prices will become effective from midnight.
Furthermore, these rates will remain in force from August 1 until August 3, 2026, under the current pricing schedule.
Motorists and transport operators will purchase petrol and diesel at the revised rates during this period.
Prices Updated Under New Petroleum Pricing Mechanism
The notification stated that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot petroleum prices in line with the federal government’s updated petroleum pricing mechanism.
The latest adjustment applies to both petrol and high-speed diesel.
While the changes are relatively small, they represent the government’s latest review of petroleum prices under the revised pricing formula. The updated rates will remain effective until the next scheduled revision.
