Motorists across Pakistan will pay more for fuel as the federal government announces another increase in petroleum prices. Effective October 27, 2026, petrol will cost Rs1.54 more per litre, while high-speed diesel will rise by Rs2.16.
The latest adjustment brings petrol to Rs379.25 per litre and diesel to Rs395.82. The government linked the increase to developments in international petroleum markets and related import costs.
What Are the New Petrol and Diesel Prices?
The revised ex-depot prices reflect increases in both major petroleum products. The updated rates are as follows:
- Petrol: Increased by Rs1.54, from Rs377.71 to Rs379.25 per litre.
- High-speed diesel: Increased by Rs2.16, from Rs393.66 to Rs395.82 per litre.
The new prices take effect on October 27, 2026. Therefore, consumers will face the revised rates under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.
Why Have Petroleum Prices Increased?
The Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division announced the adjustment following a review by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
According to the ministry, international market developments influenced the latest decision. These included changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidental costs.
Platts rates form part of the international petroleum pricing benchmarks considered in fuel price assessments. Meanwhile, premiums and incidental costs also affect the overall import-related pricing calculations.
Under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism, OGRA revised the ex-depot prices accordingly.
When Will the Revised Fuel Rates Apply?
The new petrol and diesel prices will come into force from October 27, 2026. Consequently, motorists and transport operators will encounter higher fuel costs under the updated rates.
Petrol remains an important fuel for private vehicles and motorcycles. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel powers many transport vehicles and commercial operations.
The adjustment therefore affects consumers across different sectors, although the actual impact depends on individual fuel consumption.
The Petroleum Division stated that further details about the revised petroleum prices were available through OGRA’s official website.
