Peshawar Division Commissioner Khalid Mahmood has directed relevant authorities to accelerate construction of major flyovers and underpasses along Ring Road. He instructed officials to complete the ongoing development projects within their assigned deadlines and remove obstacles delaying construction.
The commissioner issued these directions while chairing a meeting to review progress on infrastructure projects across the city. Moreover, senior administrative and technical officials attended the meeting to discuss construction timelines and measures to improve coordination among departments.
Key Ring Road Projects Under Review
Mahmood ordered officials to speed up work on the Jamil Chowk Underpass, Hazara Khwani Flyover and Pishtakhara Chowk Underpass. He also directed authorities to accelerate construction of the underpass near the Hayatabad Ring Road Toll Plaza.
During the meeting, the commissioner stressed that departments must resolve construction-related issues without delay. Additionally, he called for a coordinated strategy to ensure that contractors and relevant agencies meet their commitments.
Northern Bypass Construction to Accelerate
The commissioner also instructed officials to accelerate work on the remaining sections of the Northern Bypass. Furthermore, he directed authorities to complete the flyovers at Warsak Road and Charsadda Road as soon as possible.
These infrastructure projects form part of broader efforts to improve Peshawar’s road network and address growing traffic congestion. Once completed, the flyovers and underpasses are expected to make Ring Road signal-free and help motorists travel more efficiently.
The projects aim to reduce delays at busy intersections, improve connectivity and provide commuters with more convenient transport routes. Consequently, timely completion remains important for residents who regularly use these major roads.
Mahmood emphasised that all relevant departments must maintain close coordination and monitor construction progress regularly. He also highlighted the need to address administrative and technical challenges promptly to prevent further delays.
The administration expects the projects to improve traffic flow and strengthen Peshawar’s urban infrastructure. However, authorities must complete the remaining construction work within the stipulated timeframes to deliver the intended benefits to commuters.
