The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested 15 suspects during eight operations across different parts of Pakistan. The nationwide crackdown resulted in the seizure of more than 83kg of drugs. Officials also recovered weapons during one operation in Lahore.
The most unusual recovery took place at Peshawar Airport. There, officials recovered 73 heroin-filled capsules from the stomach of a passenger.
73 Heroin Capsules Recovered at Peshawar Airport
ANF officials recovered 73 capsules weighing 435 grams from a passenger at Peshawar Airport. The passenger was travelling to Bahrain when officials conducted the operation.
The capsules contained heroin and had been concealed inside the passenger’s stomach. The recovery formed part of the ANF’s wider crackdown against drug trafficking across the country.
Drugs and Weapons Seized in Lahore
Meanwhile, ANF officials carried out another operation near Ravi Road in Lahore. Two suspects riding separate motorcycles were arrested during the operation.
Officials recovered 680 ecstasy tablets weighing 400 grams from the suspects. They also seized 1.5kg of heroin and two 9mm pistols.
The operation therefore resulted in the recovery of both narcotics and weapons.
Charas Recovered in Faisalabad and Islamabad
Near a bus terminal in Faisalabad, officials recovered 646 grams of charas. The drug had allegedly been concealed inside a suspect’s shoes.
In Islamabad, ANF officials recovered 2.4kg of charas from a suspect near a university. According to the ANF, the suspect allegedly admitted selling drugs to students at educational institutions.
The case remains under investigation as authorities continue examining the alleged drug supply network.
Major Charas and Opium Recoveries in Rawalpindi
Another ANF operation took place near the Mandra Toll Plaza. Officials recovered 10.8kg of charas from a vehicle during the operation.
Two suspects, including a woman, were arrested in connection with the recovery. Meanwhile, another operation near the Rawalpindi Interchange resulted in a larger seizure.
Officials recovered 38.4kg of charas and 15.6kg of opium from a vehicle. Two suspects were taken into custody following the recovery.
Further Arrests in Islamabad and Sargodha
ANF officials also conducted an operation near Chungi 26 in Islamabad. Three suspects were arrested after officials recovered 9.6kg of charas from their vehicle.
Similarly, officials acted near a bus terminal in Sargodha. Three motorcyclists were arrested during the operation. Authorities recovered 3.6kg of charas from their possession.
The operations formed part of the ANF’s broader action against drug trafficking in different areas.
ANF Seizes Drugs Worth Over Rs11.6 Million
According to the ANF, the narcotics seized during the operations were worth more than Rs11.6 million. The combined quantity of drugs recovered reached 83.385kg. The seizures included heroin, charas, opium and ecstasy tablets. Authorities also recovered two 9mm pistols during the Lahore operation.
The ANF said further investigations into the cases are underway. The latest crackdown involved operations in Peshawar, Lahore, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Sargodha.
Authorities are now continuing investigations into the suspects and the alleged drug trafficking activities linked to the recoveries.
