The cable car service at Patriata has shut down for about one and a half months after Austrian experts flagged safety concerns, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) paused the service to protect tourists visiting the hill resort near Murree.
TDCP officials said foreign experts inspected the system and advised replacing the iron cable as a precaution. The department has already ordered a new cable rope from abroad.
The chairlift service at Patriata remains operational and continues to carry visitors.
Officials expect the replacement and installation process to take between one month and six weeks. The cable car will reopen after the work is completed.
TDCP also announced new tourism projects for the area, including a safari train at Kashmir Point, electric carts, a glass walkway bridge, two chairlifts, a paragliding club, and a modern tourist resort.
