Pakistanโs top leadership marked Independence Day with calls for unity, progress, and national development.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and military leaders issued separate messages. They congratulated the nation on Pakistanโs 79th Independence Day. Moreover, they urged citizens to strengthen unity and safeguard national sovereignty.
Armed Forces Reaffirm Commitment to National Security
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir led the armed forcesโ Independence Day message. Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu joined him.
The military leadership paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other founding leaders. They also honoured martyrs, veterans, and law enforcement personnel. Furthermore, they praised sacrifices that contributed to Pakistanโs creation and security.
The armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to defending Pakistan against all threats. They also pledged to uphold the Constitution and protect territorial integrity. Additionally, they called on citizens to contribute toward peace and stability.
President and PM Highlight Economy and Youth
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the vision of Pakistan Movement leaders. He said their sacrifices made an independent homeland possible.
The premier highlighted recent economic improvements across the country. He noted remittances increased by $11.3 billion during the past two years. Furthermore, he identified technology, innovation, education, and employment as key priorities.
Shehbaz also reiterated support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine. He stressed peaceful solutions through diplomacy and international law.
Meanwhile, President Zardari described independence as a continuing national responsibility. He emphasized economic growth, governance reforms, and educational opportunities for youth.
The president called young Pakistanis the nationโs greatest strength. He urged greater investment in skills development and future opportunities. Moreover, he supported dialogue-based solutions to regional disputes.
Both leaders encouraged citizens to work collectively for prosperity, peace, and national progress.
