Pakistan has approved the deployment of Army and Rangers personnel across Punjab for Chehlum security. Authorities announced the move as part of enhanced safety measures. The deployment aims to support police during the religious observance.
Army And Rangers Support Security Plan
According to officials, Army and Rangers personnel will assist police and other law enforcement agencies. The forces will begin their duties one day before Chehlum. Authorities expect the deployment to improve security across sensitive areas.
Security personnel will help protect participants during processions throughout Punjab. They will also assist local authorities in maintaining law and order. Meanwhile, officials continue strengthening security arrangements ahead of the religious event.
Lahore Finalises Procession Arrangements
In Lahore, local government officials reviewed preparations for Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). They also assessed arrangements for the Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA).
Officials briefed Lahore Police, district administration, and rescue teams during the meeting. Authorities confirmed that Lahore will host 12 Chehlum processions. The city will also hold two main processions under enhanced security.
Furthermore, officials approved the installation of 240 additional surveillance cameras. The cameras will help monitor procession routes and other sensitive locations.
Authorities also permitted sabeels at the former Bird Market point during the Urs celebrations. Meanwhile, security agencies remain on high alert to ensure peaceful religious gatherings across Punjab.
