Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship
JEONJU: Pakistan’s Youth Girls Netball Team delivered a stunning performance to secure their place in the final of the Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship 2025, defeating Japan with a commanding scoreline of 64-39 in the semifinal clash held at the Jeonju Hwasan Gymnasium in Jeonju-si, South Korea on Thursday.
The Green Shirts started strong and immediately took control of the game, dominating the first quarter with a 21-7 lead. Their relentless offensive and disciplined defense allowed them to maintain a strong grip on the match, extending their lead to 34-19 by halftime.
The third quarter saw Japan trying to reduce the deficit, but Pakistan held firm, ending the quarter at 42-28. In the final stretch, Pakistan surged again, closing the match with a comprehensive 64-39 victory.
The semifinal win was a team effort, with standout performances from players like Leya Raza Shah, Alisha Naveed, Sumayya Kouser, Haleema, Jasmine Farooq, Amani, Parisa, and Farah Rasheed. These players were instrumental on both ends of the court, contributing key interceptions, quick passes, and accurate shots that kept Japan under constant pressure.
Following the win, Chairman of the Pakistan Netball Federation Mudassar Arian, President Sameen Malik, and Secretary General Muhammad Riaz lauded the players for their exceptional performance and congratulated them on securing a well-deserved spot in the tournamentโs final.
The final match will be played on Friday, where Pakistan will face the winner of the second semifinal between Maldives and Chinese Taipei.
Pakistan has been in exceptional form throughout the tournament. They began their campaign with a resounding 71-15 win over Saudi Arabia and continued their dominance with a 56-32 victory over Chinese Taipei. In their third group-stage match, they overwhelmed host nation South Korea 91-6, followed by another convincing 79-39 win over Japan in the fourth fixture.
On Tuesday, Pakistan booked their semifinal berth with a gritty 49-39 triumph over the Maldives, finishing at the top of Group B.
Organised by the Asian Netball Federation, the championship is being held from June 27 to July 4 in South Korea. As Pakistan enters the final unbeaten, they remain strong contenders for the title and are one step away from clinching the coveted championship trophy.
