Islamabad Reaffirms Support for Saudi Arabia
Pakistan has strongly condemned the Houthi ballistic missile attacks on Saudi Arabia. The country also reaffirmed its support for the Kingdomโs security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Pakistan shared its position during an emergency United Nations Security Council meeting. The session focused on the Middle East situation, especially Yemen.
Pakistanโs Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Usman Jadoon, criticized the missile attacks in strong terms. He said Pakistan stands with Saudi Arabia and supports its security interests.
Pakistan Urges Peaceful Resolution in Yemen
Usman Jadoon also expressed Pakistanโs support for Yemenโs sovereignty, independence, and unity.
He called for reducing regional tensions through dialogue and diplomacy. He also stressed the importance of restraint from all sides.
Jadoon said Yemen can achieve lasting peace through an inclusive political process. He urged all parties to work toward a peaceful solution.
Saudi Arabia Intercepts Houthi Missiles
International reports stated that the Houthis launched ballistic missiles toward southern Saudi Arabia.
Saudi-led coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki confirmed the attacks. He said Saudi air defense systems intercepted and destroyed the missiles before they reached their targets.
The attacks increased concerns over security in the region. They also highlighted the continuing challenges linked to the Yemen conflict.
Houthi-Saudi Tensions Increase
The missile attacks followed Houthi accusations against Saudi Arabia. The group claimed that Saudi forces carried out airstrikes on Sanaโa International Airport.
The Houthis later warned Saudi Arabia of possible consequences.
Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to support diplomatic efforts for regional peace. Islamabad has called for dialogue to resolve conflicts and prevent further escalation.
