Pakistan and Bosnia and Herzegovina have agreed to advance bilateral cooperation in science and technology through practical projects and technical exchanges.
The development followed a meeting between Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ambassador to Pakistan Emin Ohodarevi and Federal Secretary for Science and Technology Shahid Iqbal Baloch.
Focus on Metrology and Technical Cooperation
The talks focused on implementing a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year between the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Pakistan’s National Metrology Institute.
The agreement provides a framework for stronger institutional and technical cooperation between the two countries.
Ohodarevi presented the Bosnian side’s proposed roadmap for implementing the agreement. The roadmap focuses on areas including metrology, technical expertise and institutional capacity building.
Both sides also discussed exchanging experts and expanding technical collaboration between relevant institutions.
Ministry to Coordinate Next Steps
Shahid Iqbal Baloch assured the Bosnian ambassador that Pakistan’s Ministry of Science and Technology would support implementation of the agreed areas.
The ministry will review the proposed roadmap and coordinate with the National Metrology Institute of Pakistan to determine the next steps.
Officials also agreed to maintain close coordination and ensure timely progress on planned cooperation activities.
Broader Science and Technology Partnership
The discussions are aimed at moving the existing bilateral framework beyond formal agreements and toward practical cooperation.
Metrology plays an important role in accurate measurement standards, industrial quality control, trade and scientific research. Greater cooperation in this field could support knowledge sharing and technical capacity building.
The proposed collaboration could also create opportunities for experts and institutions from both countries to work together on technical projects.
Both sides are expected to continue discussions as they work toward implementing the agreed roadmap.
