Pakistan defeated China 3-0 in the men’s volleyball bronze-medal match at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on Saturday.
The Green Shirts delivered a dominant performance at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium. They won all three sets 25-18, 25-16 and 25-18 to secure the bronze medal.
Pakistan Dominate Opening Two Sets
Pakistan started strongly, winning the opening set 25-18 through superior attacking efficiency. They converted 16 of 25 spike attempts, compared with China’s nine successful attacks from 22 attempts.
Pakistan also held an advantage at the net, registering four successful blocks from 12 attempts. China managed just one successful block from eight attempts.
The national side maintained its momentum in the second set, which lasted 21 minutes. Pakistan won 25-16 while converting 14 of 22 spike attempts, compared with China’s eight from 23.
Pakistan also scored two points directly from serves, while China failed to score through service play. Although China recorded more receptions and slightly more set assists, Pakistan continued to convert opportunities into points.
Green Shirts Complete Straight-Sets Victory
China improved in several areas during the third set, recording more receptions and set assists. The team also forced seven Pakistan errors as it attempted to extend the match.
However, Pakistan remained clinical and sealed the set 25-18 after 25 minutes. The victory completed a comprehensive straight-sets win and secured Pakistan a podium finish.
The bronze medal capped a strong campaign for Pakistan at the Asian Games. The team began its tournament with a 3-1 victory over Kazakhstan before progressing to the medal stage.
