Pakistan’s military vowed to eliminate every terrorist and facilitator after deadly attacks across Balochistan. Officials confirmed 54 militants were killed during multiple security operations.
Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry shared the details during a press conference on Wednesday. He said 42 people, including security personnel and civilians, embraced martyrdom while defending the country.
Security Forces Kill 54 Militants During Operations
According to the military, the first attack occurred between July 4 and 5 in Hanna Urak. Militants allegedly linked to Fitna al-Khawarij targeted local residents during the night.
However, local people resisted the attackers and forced them to flee. Four civilians embraced martyrdom, while six others sustained injuries during the assault.
The second attack targeted a police checkpoint near the Mangi Dam pumping station on July 6. Police personnel resisted the assault and killed 15 militants during the initial exchange.
Nevertheless, nine police officers embraced martyrdom before reinforcements reached the area. Militants later took police personnel hostage before security forces tightened the cordon.
Security operations continued in Ziarat, where officials confirmed additional militant casualties. Overall, 27 police personnel embraced martyrdom, while security forces killed 26 militants during the Mangi operation.
Military Reaffirms Commitment Against Terrorism
The third incident occurred in Bela, where an army convoy engaged suspected Balochistan Liberation Army militants. Security forces killed 14 militants, while one junior commissioned officer and 10 soldiers embraced martyrdom.
Meanwhile, separate operations in Kharan and Dalbandin killed 14 more suspected militants. Consequently, authorities said security forces killed 54 militants during recent counterterrorism operations.
Lt Gen Chaudhry pledged continued action against terrorists and their facilitators. He also alleged Afghan territory was being used for attacks against Pakistan.
Furthermore, he said authorities would remove illegally residing Afghan nationals. He concluded that Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies would continue fighting terrorism nationwide.
