More than 27.7 million children have received polio vaccines during the ongoing campaign across selected Pakistani districts. The National Emergency Operations Centre said the campaign began on September 21 and will continue until September 27.
More than 273,000 polio workers are visiting homes to administer vaccine drops to children. The campaign targets children under five across selected districts and regions.
Millions Of Children Receive Polio Vaccines
Punjab recorded around 7.898 million vaccinated children during the first five days. Meanwhile, approximately 9.88 million children received vaccines across 30 selected districts in Sindh.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more than 7.122 million children received polio drops across 37 districts. Balochistan also vaccinated over 2.249 million children across 32 selected districts.
The campaign also reached Islamabad, where more than 443,000 children received vaccines. Additionally, around 140,000 children received polio drops across two selected districts in Gilgit-Baltistan.
National EOC Urges Parents To Cooperate
The National EOC urged parents and caregivers to cooperate with vaccination teams visiting homes. Officials stressed that every child under five should receive two polio vaccine drops during the campaign.
The EOC said polio remains incurable but vaccination can prevent the disease. It also highlighted the campaign’s role in preventing poliovirus transmission and protecting children from permanent paralysis.
Parents seeking assistance can contact the polio helpline at 1166. They can also send WhatsApp messages to 0346-7776546 for information about vaccination teams.
Officials urged families to support vaccination workers throughout the campaign. They said cooperation remains important for reaching every eligible child and preventing further poliovirus transmission.
