LAHORE: Public transport has returned to normal as Orange Line train and Metrobus services resumed operations in Lahore after several days of suspension.
The decision followed an improvement in the city’s security and traffic conditions, restoring convenience for thousands of daily commuters.
Orange Line Train Resumes After Five Days
The Orange Line Metro Train restarted operations on Tuesday after a five-day suspension.
According to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA), the closure was a precautionary step due to road blockages and heightened security.
Officials confirmed that the train now runs on its complete route, providing much-needed relief to regular passengers.
The PMTA stated that operations resumed only after evaluating safety and logistical conditions across key city routes.
Lahore Metrobus Service Also Reopens
Along with the Orange Line, the Metrobus service in Lahore has also been fully restored after a four-day closure.
The PMTA said both services were reopened after a comprehensive assessment of security and traffic flow.
Authorities assured that passenger safety measures have been reinforced to ensure smooth and secure commuting across the network.
Law and Order Situation Stable in Lahore
Lahore police confirmed that law and order remain under control, and all markets will stay open as usual.
Officials urged citizens to shop and travel confidently, assuring strict protection of commercial areas and public properties.
The business community was also advised to continue normal activities without concern, with police promising round-the-clock security.
Authorities warned that anyone disrupting peace or breaking the law will face immediate legal action.
For emergencies, citizens can call 15 — “Your safety is our responsibility,” police officials said.
Partial Metrobus Restoration in Twin Cities
In Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Metrobus services have been partially restored.
Officials said buses are operating between Saddar and Kashmir Highway in the first restoration phase.
However, the Faiz Ahmed Faiz to Pak Secretariat section remains closed due to ongoing security restrictions.
The suspension, which lasted four days, followed protests by a religious group under district administration directives.
Security remains on high alert in Islamabad, especially near the high-security zone, where police deployment has been strengthened.
Authorities clarified that no major roads are blocked, though traffic remains slow in some areas.
Traffic police are actively managing flow to minimize inconvenience for commuters.
