Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the National Digital Vision (NDV) will transform public service delivery across Pakistan. The initiative aims to give citizens access to multiple services through a single digital identity.
Chairing a review meeting on the implementation of the National Digital Vision, the prime minister stressed the need for swift progress. He said priority should be given to health, agriculture, utilities, housing and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
According to the prime minister, the early implementation of the vision will improve public services and strengthen digital governance across the country.
Single Digital Identity to Connect Essential Services
The prime minister said that, after the full implementation of the NDV, citizens will be able to access a wide range of public services through one digital identity.
These services will include government document verification, banking facilities, healthcare services, transfers and other essential public services through a unified platform.
He said the vision would simplify access to government services while improving efficiency for citizens.
Moreover, he stated that implementing the NDV in consultation with federal institutions, provincial governments and relevant stakeholders would align decision-making, institutional performance and transparency with international standards.
PM Directs Immediate Access to Sky47
During the meeting, the prime minister directed authorities to ensure immediate availability of the newly established federal government-operated national central data centre, Sky47, to all federal institutions.
He also instructed officials to convene a meeting of the National Digital Commission at the earliest opportunity.
According to the prime minister, the meeting should bring together all stakeholders, including provincial governments, to build consensus on the digital policy.
Centralised Data Centre to Improve Efficiency
The prime minister said a single national data centre for the public sector would create one centralised platform for government data.
As a result, government institutions would no longer require separate data centres. Consequently, the move would help save significant national resources.
He also noted that the Pakistan Digital Authority is providing an active and transformative direction for government services, social systems and citizen-focused digital services.
Furthermore, he emphasised that implementing the National Digital Vision according to modern requirements is essential for building an integrated society.
Digital Vision Expands Across Key Sectors
The prime minister appreciated progress under the three core pillars of the National Digital Vision. These include the digital economy, digital citizen services and digital government services.
He added that effective implementation of the integrated digital policy would strengthen international partnerships. It would also ensure Pakistan’s effective representation at global forums.
During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that the National Digital Vision is currently being implemented in agriculture, food, health, energy, housing and SME sectors.
They also stated that the housing sector will receive a centralised identification number for all public and private properties.
Similarly, the SME sector will introduce a unified system of unique legal business identities. Officials said the measure would contribute to increased national productivity.
The meeting was further informed that all legal, administrative and institutional measures required for the full implementation of the National Digital Vision are being expedited.
