Consumer technology brand Nothing is reportedly preparing to enter the smart glasses market with two wearable models, including one featuring a built-in camera, ChatGPT integration and translation capabilities.
The reported development suggests the company wants to expand beyond smartphones, earbuds and headphones into AI-powered wearables. Both models are expected to feature photochromic lenses that automatically adjust their tint according to lighting conditions.
The information comes from technology tipster Roland Quandt, who shared details about the alleged products online. However, Nothing has not officially confirmed the devices or announced their prices and release dates.
Two Models Expected to Offer Different Features
According to the reports, the first pair will focus primarily on audio features. Users could reportedly listen to music and audiobooks, make hands-free calls and interact with their connected smartphones’ voice assistants.
The second model is expected to include similar audio capabilities alongside a built-in camera and more advanced AI features. ChatGPT integration could allow users to access AI assistance, while translation tools may help them understand different languages during conversations.
However, the available reports do not clarify how users will interact with these features or whether all functions will require a connected smartphone and internet access.
Photochromic Lenses and Possible Launch Timeline
Both models are reportedly being developed with photochromic lenses, which darken when exposed to bright sunlight and become clearer in lower-light environments. This feature could allow users to wear the glasses indoors and outdoors without constantly switching between regular spectacles and sunglasses.
The camera-equipped model could appeal to users seeking hands-free photography and AI assistance, while the audio-focused version may attract those who prefer simpler wearable technology without recording capabilities.
Although earlier reports suggested a possible 2027 launch for Nothing’s smart glasses, the company has yet to confirm a release schedule. Details regarding battery life, frame designs, hardware specifications and pricing also remain unknown.
If the reports prove accurate, the products would place Nothing in an increasingly competitive smart eyewear market dominated by established technology brands.
