North Korea has accused the United States, Japan, and South Korea of creating a new security crisis in the Asia-Pacific. Pyongyang claimed their expanding military cooperation threatens regional peace and stability.
State-run Korean Central News Agency published the remarks on Tuesday. A military commentator said the three allies continue strengthening their joint warfighting capabilities through large-scale military exercises.
The commentary criticised the recent US-led Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) naval exercises. It described the drills as a rehearsal for aggression and accused Washington of pursuing military dominance with support from Tokyo and Seoul.
According to North Korea, this year’s RIMPAC involved more than 30,000 personnel, over 30 warships, five submarines, and nearly 190 aircraft.
Pyongyang Warns Of Stronger Deterrence
North Korea also criticised recent US-South Korea air and logistics exercises. Moreover, it opposed plans to strengthen US command structures in Japan.
The commentary further condemned the deployment of advanced US missile systems across the region. Consequently, Pyongyang warned it would answer “a threat of a new level with a deterrence of a new level.”
Officials argued that growing military cooperation among the allies has increased regional tensions. Therefore, North Korea pledged to reinforce its defence capabilities.
North Korea Rejects Cyber Allegations
Separately, North Korea’s Foreign Ministry rejected recent US-led accusations describing the country as a cyber threat. Officials called the allegations politically motivated and without evidence.
A ministry spokesperson instead accused the United States of militarising cyberspace through cyber commands, joint exercises, and artificial intelligence initiatives. Furthermore, the spokesperson claimed Washington was responsible for escalating digital tensions.
North Korea also vowed to continue protecting its national security and development interests against what it described as Western pressure.
