At major auto shows, automakers usually compete for attention with flashy launches, powerful specifications and elaborate displays.
However, Geely took a very different approach at the Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2026 in Lahore. Instead of putting its vehicles on display, the global automotive brand created buzz through a simple but unusual teaser campaign.
Giant Geely-branded bags began appearing across the exhibition venue, immediately catching the attention of visitors and industry watchers.
Giant Bags Become PAPS Talking Point
The oversized bags quickly became difficult to ignore.
Brand ambassadors carrying the bags moved through the busy exhibition halls, turning the Geely logo into a moving advertisement. The unexpected appearance naturally left visitors wondering what the brand was planning.
Questions quickly spread across the venue.
Where was Geely’s stall? Why was the brand present without displaying a car? Was an official launch approaching? Most importantly, what was inside the giant bags?
Rather than answering those questions immediately, Geely allowed the mystery to build.
The activation also featured QR codes on the bags. Visitors who scanned them were directed to the newly launched Geely Auto Pakistan website, connecting the physical stunt with the brand’s digital presence.
Geely Chooses Curiosity Over Convention
PAPS 2026 featured numerous automakers showcasing new models and automotive technologies. The three-day exhibition attracted more than 300,000 visitors, creating a highly competitive environment for brands seeking attention.
Against that backdrop, Geely avoided competing directly with traditional vehicle displays.
Instead, the company turned curiosity into its main attraction.
The bags functioned as moving billboards while also giving visitors something to discover. As a result, the campaign encouraged people to actively search for information about Geely rather than simply walk past another vehicle on a display stand.
This approach also helped the brand create an early connection with potential customers before its official commercial launch.
A Teaser for Geely’s Pakistan Entry
The timing of the activation was significant because Geely is preparing to enter Pakistan’s automotive market through Bestway Automotive Private Limited.
Bestway Automotive has been appointed as Geely’s authorised distributor and official representative in Pakistan. The company has said vehicle bookings are expected to begin before the end of 2026.
Geely plans to initially bring vehicles into Pakistan as completely built units. Bestway also plans to use an acquired facility at Port Qasim for future local assembly.
The brand’s planned lineup includes models such as the Geely EX5, an electric SUV, and the Geely EX2, a compact electric vehicle. The Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid is also among the models planned for introduction.
Why the PAPS Strategy Stood Out
The stunt worked because it did not reveal everything at once.
At an event filled with vehicles, specifications and promotional material, Geely offered visitors only a clue. That limited information encouraged people to ask questions and share their observations.
Moreover, the QR code gave the curiosity a direct next step. Instead of leaving the campaign entirely offline, Geely used the bags to guide visitors towards its online presence.
The strategy therefore combined physical visibility, digital engagement and anticipation without relying on a traditional vehicle reveal.
Geely Builds Anticipation Ahead of Launch
Geely’s PAPS appearance did not amount to a conventional car launch. Instead, it served as an introduction to a brand preparing for a larger entry into Pakistan.
The approach also fits the company’s broader positioning around electric and new-energy mobility.
With several established and emerging automotive brands competing for Pakistani consumers, creating awareness before an official launch can be crucial.
For now, Geely has given potential customers more questions than answers. However, the giant bags ensured that its name travelled across one of Pakistan’s biggest automotive events — without a single car needing to take centre stage.
