Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally launched Pakistan’s first-ever National Youth Employment Policy. The policy aims to expand employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people across the country.
Shehbaz announced the initiative while addressing a ceremony for International Youth Day in Islamabad on Wednesday. The prime minister also announced a 35% quota for women in the labour force.
Additionally, young startups will receive a 10% annual quota under the new policy. According to Shehbaz, the measures will encourage inclusivity and innovation within Pakistan’s workforce.
Shehbaz Stresses the Need for Technology Skills
The prime minister highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence, information technology and modern technology.
“Today is an era of AI, IT and technology driven, if the latest knowledge in these fields is not incorporated in their daily life, they cannot move ahead and compete with the developed nations,” the premier added.
He said the government would commit its available resources to creating opportunities for young people.
The prime minister also stressed the value of quality education at world-renowned institutions.
He said government support should help young people excel in different fields after receiving quality education.
Equal Education Remains a Key Focus
Shehbaz reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modern technological and skill-based education.
He said young people must receive education that matches the demands of a rapidly changing, technology-driven world.
Moreover, he emphasised equal educational opportunities for talented and deserving students.
The prime minister linked this goal with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He said unequal access to opportunities would undermine the principles behind Pakistan’s creation.
Shehbaz also called for an end to disparities between wealthy and less privileged communities.
Danish Schools Network to Expand Nationwide
The prime minister recalled the objectives behind establishing Danish schools in Punjab during his tenure as “Khadim e Aala” of the province.
He said the Danish schools network was now being expanded across the country.
“Pakistan was created as country where equal opportunities in education, health and progress in different fields of life would be readily available on the basis of hard work,” he observed.
He added that maintaining equality among citizens remains essential for Pakistan to reach its intended destination.
Therefore, Shehbaz reiterated that national resources would support facilities and opportunities for young people.
Islamabad to Get Technology-Focused Danish University
Shehbaz also announced the establishment of a Danish University in Islamabad.
The prime minister said the university would begin its academic session next year.
He described it as a technology-focused institution for deserving and talented students.
The university will add another education initiative to the government’s efforts to equip young people with modern skills.
The prime minister said Pakistan’s youth must gain the knowledge needed to compete in an increasingly technology-driven global environment.
Shehbaz Urges Youth to Build Their Future
The prime minister ended his address with an encouraging message for Pakistan’s young population.
“The future is not something you wait for, the future is something you build, now go and build it,” the prime minister encouraged the youth with a famous quote.
The National Youth Employment Policy brings employment, entrepreneurship, women’s participation and technology-focused education into one broader youth agenda.
The government’s announced measures now place greater emphasis on creating opportunities for young Pakistanis while expanding access to education and skills.
