Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport has begun strictly enforcing mandatory vaccination requirements for Umrah pilgrims following the expiry of a temporary exemption on October 10, 2026.
Authorities have activated vaccination services at the airport to help international travellers meet health requirements before departure. The rules require Umrah pilgrims to receive polio and meningitis vaccinations and obtain the relevant digital vaccination certificates.
Vaccination Services Available Around the Clock
The International Traveller Vaccination Centre, operated by Border Health Services near Star Gate, is providing vaccination services around the clock.
Dr Ghulam Murtaza Shah, Border Health’s focal person, said officials had arranged vaccine supplies and certificates to facilitate passengers. Authorities are also administering other vaccines according to travellers’ destinations and travel itineraries.
Passengers heading to countries requiring yellow fever vaccination must also receive the relevant vaccine before departure.
Vaccination Fees and Certificate Requirements
The vaccination fees currently reported are:
- Meningitis vaccine: Rs2,785
- Influenza vaccine: Rs1,720
- Polio vaccine: Free of charge
Pakistani passport holders must meet the vaccination requirements applicable to their destinations and transit points. They should also ensure their vaccination certificates are valid and properly recorded in the digital system.
Travellers Advised to Prepare Before Departure
Border Health Services has advised passengers to complete the required vaccination process before travelling to avoid delays at the airport. Travellers should verify their destination’s health requirements and ensure their certificates are available before boarding. Those who need vaccinations should allow sufficient time to complete the process.
The enforcement follows earlier deadline extensions intended to facilitate pilgrims and improve vaccination arrangements. Authorities have now resumed full enforcement after the temporary exemption ended.
