LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) arrested three suspects involved in online harassment, blackmailing, and defamation in Lahore and Multan cities of the Punjab province.
According to the NCCIA, investigators recovered mobile phones and objectionable digital material during the coordinated operations. In Lahore, officials arrested Azeem Jafri over alleged online harassment and systematic defamation through social media platforms.
Investigators seized his mobile phone and are examining its contents for evidence. The agency said Jafri allegedly targeted several people through defamatory posts and harassing messages.
Multan arrests reveal blackmail allegations
In Multan, NCCIA officials arrested two suspects, identified as Jamshed and Sajjad Sarwar, over alleged cyber harassment and blackmail.
According to investigators, Jamshed allegedly threatened a woman through WhatsApp and attempted to blackmail her.
Officials recovered threatening messages from his mobile phone that allegedly support the victim’s complaint.
Meanwhile, investigators seized Sajjad Sarwar’s mobile phone and found objectionable material allegedly shared through WhatsApp.
Authorities are analyzing the recovered material as part of the ongoing investigation.
The three suspects remain in custody for further interrogation and evidence collection.
Meanwhile, NCCIA teams are examining seized devices for chat records, financial transactions and communications with victims.
Investigators are also working to identify additional victims and determine whether the suspects operated a wider criminal network.
The agency has urged citizens to report online harassment, blackmail and defamatory content promptly.
Authorities said victims can submit complaints through the NCCIA’s cybercrime reporting system while maintaining confidentiality.
