The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a suspect in Lahore for allegedly harassing and blackmailing children through social media platforms.
According to officials, the suspect, identified as Humar Walayat, allegedly obtained private videos from minors and threatened to publish them online.
Investigators said the suspect used these threats to intimidate children and pressure them into complying with his demands.
The arrest marks another development in Pakistan’s efforts to combat cybercrime and protect children from online exploitation.
NCCIA Recovers Mobile Phones and Digital Evidence
During the operation, investigators recovered 12 iPhones and an additional iPhone 13 Pro from the suspect’s possession.
Authorities also seized evidence linked to TikTok activity and financial transactions.
During preliminary questioning, investigators discovered several email accounts, passwords, and login information associated with a Snapchat account.
Officials are examining the recovered digital evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
The NCCIA has registered a criminal case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the Pakistan Penal Code.
Inspector Aqib Ali Khan filed the case on behalf of the agency.
Meanwhile, NCCIA Additional Director Atif Amir warned that authorities would take strict action against individuals involved in blackmailing children.
He emphasized the agency’s commitment to tackling online harassment and protecting minors from digital exploitation.
The case also highlights growing concerns about children’s safety on social media platforms.
Online blackmail can expose young users to serious privacy violations, emotional distress, and exploitation.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor online risks and help children recognize suspicious digital interactions.
The investigation remains underway as authorities examine the seized evidence and pursue further legal proceedings.
