Actor Nauman Ijaz has revealed that he quietly battled cancer after receiving a diagnosis in June 2024.
The Parwarish actor discussed his health journey during a recent podcast appearance. He spoke about the fear surrounding his diagnosis and the uncertainty he experienced afterward.
“I had one tumor here near my ear, and lymphoma in stomach. I was diagnosed in June 2024,” Nauman said.
The actor recalled turning to prayer after learning about his condition. He also credited his friend, Gohar Butt, with encouraging him to recite Surah Ar-Rahman following his diagnosis.
Nauman said the recitation eventually became part of his daily routine. He explained that his experience changed the way he approached his prayers and daily life.
“That’s the reason why I recite a lot of verses and things before going to sleep because I don’t think I will wake up the next day,” he said.
Tumour Removed as Lymphoma Disappeared
Nauman revealed that doctors surgically removed the tumour located near his ear. Meanwhile, subsequent scans reportedly showed no signs of the lymphoma in his stomach.
“The tumor near my ear was operated on, while the lymphoma disappeared on its own. It didn’t show up in the scans,” he recalled.
According to the actor, doctors had initially planned to begin chemotherapy in July. However, the treatment was ultimately not required after his medical results changed.
The unexpected development left Nauman surprised and deeply grateful. He said the experience strengthened his faith during a particularly difficult period. The actor also shared his personal belief that reciting Surah Ar-Rahman contributed to his recovery. His comments reflected the important role spirituality played while he faced the uncertainty surrounding his illness.
