BAHAWALPUR: A woman, previously victimized by police officer Mir Hasan on a moving train, was tragically discovered deceased close to Chani Goth Railway Station in Bahawalpur, according to an official police statement on Monday.
The event was brought to public attention when a video of the officer surfaced on social media platforms, displaying him forcibly gripping the woman’s hair and striking her repeatedly in front of other passengers who remained unresponsive.
Following the widespread video, the railway police officer was recognized and arrested on April 13. Later that day, a court in Hyderabad released him on bail, requiring a security bond of Rs35,000.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Railways Abdullah Sheikh stated that an event occurred on April 7th, involving the Millat Express train traveling from Karachi to Lala Musa.
Nevertheless, only a day following the police officer’s release on bail, the woman’s body was discovered in Bahawalpur.
As reported by the police, a railway officer allegedly abducted a woman from Jaranwala’s Chak 40 Mor, Faisalabad, on April 7, following a violent assault.
Afzal, the sibling of the deceased, stated that his sister previously held a job at a beauty salon in Karachi. She was traveling to Jaranwala to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. Moreover, he urged for a thorough investigation into his sister’s untimely passing.
The law enforcement officer arrived to inspect the woman’s ticket situation, as he had been informed that she was traveling without proper documentation.
During the inspection, the woman denied traveling without a ticket, but the officer subjected her to cruel treatment in front of her children.
At a later time, the officer alleged that the woman had abducted the children. Nevertheless, the police officer admitted to physically assaulting the woman due to her unruly behavior towards him.
