As temperatures continue to rise in Punjab, residents of Lahore are preparing for sweltering conditions, aggravated by the onset of load shedding.
The city is currently experiencing a heat surge, with temperatures expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius today, amid forecasts of hot and dry weather persisting.
Lahore’s inhabitants are already feeling the impact of escalating temperatures, exacerbated by intermittent power cuts affecting various neighborhoods and disrupting daily routines.
Areas such as Samanabad, Chauburji, and their vicinity are enduring up to six hours of load shedding, prompting concerns among locals, especially as the intense heat shows no signs of relenting.
“A resident of Samanabad expressed, ‘The heat is unbearable, and now with the power cuts, it’s becoming even more difficult to cope.'”
Meanwhile, Karachi and other coastal areas in Sindh are also preparing for extreme temperatures in the upcoming days. Weather forecasts indicate a rise in the mercury levels, with temperatures expected to reach as high as 46 degrees Celsius in upper and central Sindh.
Karachi is anticipated to endure temperatures spanning from 36°C to 38°C, with heightened humidity levels amplifying the sensation to around 40°C to 44°C.
In response to these projections, health professionals are urgently advising citizens to take precautionary steps to shield themselves from the impending heatwave. They emphasize the critical necessity of staying adequately hydrated to mitigate the risk of dehydration and heat-related ailments.
