SHIKARPUR: Demonstrators have gathered on the Indus Highway to demand the release of 11 individuals who were abducted by criminal groups.
Protestors have obstructed the Sukkur-Shikarpur road, causing a halt in vehicular movement.
The highway connecting Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan provinces has temporarily halted traffic flow. A series of stationary vehicles form extensive queues along the road.
In the vicinity of Shikarpur, two additional individuals were recently kidnapped, raising the total number of abducted people in the district to 13.
An incident occurred in Abdul Wahid Mahar village, under the jurisdiction of Bachal Bhayo police station, where cousins Amir and Ghulam Farid were kidnapped. The family believed that these men might have been taken by local bandits active in the area.
The police reported that the two individuals, who were on their way to the village during the night, were abducted.
In recent times, the occurrence of kidnappings for ransom has significantly increased in the region, with the number of hostages in Shikarpur district rising to a concerning 13.
The law and order condition in Sindh, particularly in the rugged regions near the Indus River, is deteriorating daily.
Bandits persistently kidnap individuals for ransom, and unfortunately, the local police have proven ineffective in maintaining a stable and secure environment.
