Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has called for negotiations with Balochistan National Party (BNP) Chief Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal and other key stakeholders to address the worsening security situation in Balochistan.
His remarks came in response to the recent terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express, where militants took hundreds of passengers hostage.
Rana Sanaullah emphasized the need to engage with discontented groups that respect the constitution and the rule of law.
“If someone has distanced themselves, they should be brought back through dialogue. Akhtar Mengal is our brother; he accepts the constitution, and we should engage with him,” he stated.
However, he ruled out any negotiations with those who reject the constitution, asserting that there should be no talks with terrorists, their facilitators, or individuals who fail to condemn acts of terrorism.
Rana Sanaullah also highlighted the ongoing security operation against the attackers, assuring that both the political and military leadership are fully aware of the situation. He added that further details would be shared once the operation is completed.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving the Balochistan crisis, with the Pakistan Army actively combating the enemies of the state in the region.
Jaffar Express Attack: Hostage Crisis and Security Operation
The Jaffar Express came under attack in Balochistan’s Bolan Pass, where terrorists held hundreds of passengers hostage, including women and children.
According to reports, militants stopped the Peshawar-bound train in a tunnel and opened fire, critically injuring the driver. Security forces have since launched an operation to rescue the passengers and neutralize the threat.
