Punjab Government Announces Winter Vacations

The Punjab government has declared that winter vacations for students will begin on December 20 and end on January 10, providing a 20-day break for schools across the province, according to Khalid Nazir Watto, the Secretary of Punjab Schools.

In a related development, the Lahore High Court (LHC) issued an order mandating that schools must provide transportation for students once the winter break concludes. The court further warned that any school failing to comply with this directive would face closure.

The ruling, issued by LHC Judge Justice Shahid Karim, came in response to petitions filed by citizens, including Haroon Farooq. The court’s written order instructed the Punjab government to ensure that schools arrange transportation for their students following the winter holidays. Additionally, the court directed the School Department to issue final notices to schools, warning that those who violate the directive would face potential closure.
