Following the decrease in roti prices, bread rates have also witnessed a significant drop across Punjab, providing relief to households.
The reduction in bread prices, ranging from Rs50 to Rs70, has been implemented immediately according to a recent notification.
In Lahore, the price of 750 grams of bread has been slashed from Rs230 to Rs180.
Additionally, the Lahore deputy commissioner has declared that the maximum price for bread weighing up to 400 grams will now be Rs95.
Authorities have pledged to swiftly enforce these new prices to ensure that consumers promptly benefit from the reductions.
On May 23, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced via Twitter that the new price of roti had been further reduced and set at Rs14. Maryam stated that the Punjab government had lowered the price of roti across the province.
In various areas, including Lahore, the price of roti was set at Rs14, while in Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar, it was fixed at Rs12.
Nevertheless, the naanbais in Multan opposed the government’s decision.
Despite the government’s attempt to alleviate citizens’ burdens with affordable roti, naanbais in Multan continued to sell roti at the old price. Citizens urged the government to take action to enforce its decision and offer relief to the people.
In Multan, naanbais persisted in selling roti at Rs20 and naan at Rs25, disregarding the government’s mandated price.
