Punjab CM Maryam Sets September 15 Deadline for Himmat Card Payments
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed authorities to commence payments through Himmat Cards—a program designed for differently-abled individuals—by September 15.
At a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Social Welfare and the Bank of Punjab, Maryam emphasized the importance of supporting special individuals, stating, “Special people are very special to us.” The MoU outlines that 65,000 differently-abled people across the province will receive Rs10,500 quarterly via these cards.
The agreement was signed by Social Welfare Secretary Javed Akhtar Mahmood and Bank of Punjab President Zafar Masood.
Maryam highlighted the state’s responsibility in caring for deserving individuals, adding, “The care of deserving special persons is the responsibility of the state.”
Officials revealed that the card distribution will occur in two phases: 40,000 individuals will receive cards in Phase I, with 25,000 more in Phase II. Additionally, a 30 percent quota has been allocated for women, and a dedicated helpline (1312) has been established to assist them.
