Punjab Cabinet Swearing-In: Key Appointments and Anticipation for Fresh Leadership

Amidst eager anticipation, the Punjab cabinet is set to be sworn in this evening, with Marriyum Aurangzeb taking on a senior ministerial role overseeing planning and development, wildlife, and environment portfolios. PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has approved all appointments, ensuring a dynamic blend of expertise and representation.

Notable names include Azma Bukhari as Minister of Information, Tahir Khalil Sindhu for Human Rights, and Ramesh Singh to address minority affairs. Faisal Khokhar and Bilal Akbar will helm sports and transport, reflecting the government’s focus on diverse sectors.

Healthcare portfolios will see Khawaja Salman Rafique managing specialized healthcare and Khawaja Imran Nazir overseeing primary healthcare. Rana Sikandar Hayat and Sohaib Bherth will lead education and communication and works, respectively, aiming to address critical societal needs.

Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, Zeeshan Rafique, and Bilal Yasin will manage agriculture, local governments, and food departments. At the same time, Kazim Pirzada and Sher Ali Gorchani will handle irrigation and mines and minerals, respectively, contributing to sectoral development.

Former ministers Rana Sanaullah and Pervaiz Rasheed may join the cabinet, alongside Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and Rana Ishaq Hayat, enhancing the government’s experience and leadership pool.

The inclusion of PML-Q and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party members underscores the cabinet’s inclusive approach. The swearing-in ceremony, expected to induct 25 ministers and special assistants, will be held at the Governor House in Lahore, marking a significant milestone in Punjab’s political landscape.
