Punjab Assembly Riots: Court Confirms Bail of 5 PMLN Leaders

In a case involving rioting in the Punjab Assembly, five Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders’ bail was confirmed on Tuesday by a session court in Lahore.

The court granted Rana Mashood, Saif ul Maloook, Rukhsana Kausar, Mirza Javed, Awais Leghari, and other PML-N parliamentarians bail in exchange for Rs50,000.

The Qila Gujjar Singh police station handed over a copy of the case file to the court during today’s hearing.

Atta Tarar, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and 12 other defendants in the Punjab Assembly riots case were granted protective bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on August 22 for a period of 14 days.

On a petition submitted by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Atta Tarar, acting IHC Chief Justice Justice Aamer Farooq issued the orders.

The following party leaders were accused in the Punjab Assembly riots case: Rana Mashood, Saiful Malook Khokhar, Adil Chattha, Attaullah Tarar, Shuaib Marth, Malik Ghulam Habib, Sardar Awais, Mirza Javed, Pir Khizer Hayat, Raja Saghir, Abdul Rauf, Bilal Farooq, and Rana Manan.

In the Punjab Assembly riots case, the provincial government of Punjab chose to detain leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. PS Qila Gujjar Singh received the case and registered it.
