ISLAMABAD: The pre-arrest bail of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has been extended by the Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad until July 26.
This extension applies to two cases that are connected to the violence that occurred on May 9.
The case was heard by ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain, and Qureshi’s counsel Ali Bukhari appeared in court.
During the hearing, Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s counsel argued that since all other accused individuals in the case had been granted bail. Qureshi should also be presumed innocent if they were not involved.
In response, the court questioned the police authorities about the progress of their investigation.
The police officials said that the investigation was ongoing and no definitive conclusions could be drawn.
Considering the ongoing investigation, the court decided to extend Qureshi’s pre-arrest bail. The next hearing for this case is scheduled for July 26.
