PTI’s Marwat claims that the disqualification case against Gandapur is deliberately planned

The Member of National Assembly (MNA) alleges that the relocation of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to Bani Gala is a part of a larger, orchestrated plan.

In a recent interview with Shaukat Piracha on Rubaroo, aired on Aaj News, PTI lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat alleged that the disqualification case against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister was premeditated. He claimed that the case was not filed before the general elections and suggested that the individual in question, Gandapur, was not acceptable to certain parties.

Marwat further mentioned that even when Gandapur was nominated as the KP CM, former Prime Minister Imran Khan faced pressure. This statement refers to a petition filed with the Election Commission of Pakistan, which seeks the disqualification of the KP CM due to land acquisition in Dera Ismail Khan.

The nation’s highest electoral body has scheduled a hearing for this case and instructed Gandapur to attend the district election commission on March 26th. The petitioner, JUI-F leader Muhammad Kafeel, participated in the provincial assembly elections on February 8th.

Marwat asserted that he had relevant information pertaining to the case, linking it to the updates provided by party MPA Asif Khan, the son of Dost Muhammad Khan. He mentioned that Asif Khan discovered individuals searching for him and feared potential abduction related to the same land in question for Gandapur’s disqualification. It is believed that they attempted to turn Asif Khan into an approver and persuade him to serve as a witness against Gandapur. Marwat claims he communicated this information to the Chief Minister of KP.

The PTI MNA commented on the unsuccessful attempt to kidnap Asif Khan, stating that these individuals resorted to approaching their preferred forum, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He did not name the people involved but mentioned that they targeted Gandapur because he was a loyal follower of the former Prime Minister.

Regarding the case, he believed that the ECP might have been chosen as the wrong forum since it cannot disqualify under the given provisions. He found it noteworthy that such an objection had never been raised before and that filing the petition post-elections suggested it was premeditated.

In addition, the MNA was asked about the decision by JUI-F to form an alliance with the PPP for the Senate elections.

Marwat expressed that the party initially took JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s initial statement seriously. However, he later observed that Fazlur Rehman’s “nuisance value” was increasing after he decided not to vote for Mehmood Khan Achakzai in the presidential election. Marwat speculated that it might not take long for Fazlur Rehman to become part of the PDM (Pakistan Democratic Movement) and seek a ministry position in the government.

During his discussion about the Punjab government’s decision to prohibit Imran Khan’s gathering, Marwat pointed out that the issue began when the authorities chose to keep former first lady Bushra Bibi in Bani Gala instead of Adiala. He also mentioned that the government claimed three Afghan nationals were arrested in the matter.
