PTI Submits Detailed Response to ECP, Defends Intra-Party Elections Against Baseless Claims

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a comprehensive and detailed response to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), addressing concerns raised regarding the party’s intra-party elections. The response, submitted by Chief Election Commissioner Rauf Hasan on behalf of PTI, aims to provide clarity and refute allegations suggesting that the party failed to conduct such elections.

PTI emphasized that it has diligently conducted intra-party elections on two occasions, firstly on June 9, 2022, and then on November 23, 2023. The party staunchly defended the integrity of its organizational structure, categorically dismissing claims of any lapses in conducting these essential elections.

Moreover, PTI highlighted the inclusivity of its organizational processes by pointing out that a general body meeting, attended by representatives from all provinces and the federation, was convened on January 31, 2024.

Furthermore, the party underscored its commitment to democratic principles by conducting intra-party elections for the third time on March 3, 2024, in strict accordance with the provisions outlined in the Election Act.

In addressing concerns regarding the appointment of the Chief Organizer, PTI reiterated that the process was conducted lawfully during the General Body Meeting. The party emphasized the competence and legitimacy of the body responsible for making such appointments, reaffirming its adherence to democratic norms.

Furthermore, PTI clarified that the submission of documents for party registration is a one-time process mandated by the Election Commission. The party emphasized that it remains listed under Section 202, thereby underscoring its compliance with legal requirements.

Additionally, PTI highlighted its commitment to transparency by submitting extensive documentation totaling 1,365 pages, which included meticulous details of the scrutiny of nomination papers. Despite rigorous scrutiny, PTI asserts that no discrepancies were identified in the submitted documents.

Ultimately, PTI urged the ECP to acknowledge the validity of its intra-party elections and issue the necessary certification, as the party remains steadfast in upholding electoral integrity and democratic principles. The submission of this comprehensive response underscores PTI’s commitment to transparent and accountable governance practices, reaffirming its dedication to the democratic process in Pakistan.
