ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) called upon the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ensure the timely conduct of the general elections.
Expressing her concerns, PPP Senator Sherry Rehman expressed disappointment at the ECP’s statement indicating a four-month duration for completing the delimitation process in line with the new census.
She highlights, “This is concerning and unsatisfactory for the PPP. We urge the ECP to reconsider its decision.”
“The intention behind the early dissolution of the assemblies was to provide the ECP with additional time for election preparations,” she emphasized.
Sherry Rehman said, “The PPP had consented to hold the elections based on the new census, despite reservations about the digital census.”
However, she cautioned that any delay in the elections would result in political uncertainty and instability.
