Pakistan urges Kabul to not let its soil be used against Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to engage with Afghanistan on various aspects of cooperation, including addressing terror threats. The Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, called on Afghan authorities to fulfill their promises of not allowing their soil to be used for terrorism against Pakistan.

Pakistan considers it their responsibility to ensure that Afghan soil is not exploited for terrorist activities. The Afghan authorities have previously accepted this responsibility.

Soil

Regarding the situation in India-held Kashmir, the spokesperson highlighted that since August 5, 2019, over 780 Kashmiris have been killed by Indian occupation forces. Despite decades of repression, the will of the Kashmiri people for the right to self-determination remains unbroken. Pakistan reaffirmed its support for the Kashmiri people in their just struggle against Indian oppression.

The spokesperson emphasized the importance of the Indus Water Treaty as an essential document that has served both countries. Pakistan commits to fully implement it and hopes that India will also remain committed.

The spokesperson mentioned that the UN Human Rights Council recently adopted a resolution presented by Pakistan on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The resolution condemned any advocacy of religious hatred and called for accountability for acts of desecration of the Holy Quran. Pakistan expressed disappointment that the resolution was put to vote on fallacious grounds, derailing the consensus of OIC member states.

Pakistan will continue to raise global awareness about Islamophobia, xenophobia, and promote interfaith dialogue, harmony, and peaceful coexistence.

Additionally, Azerbaijan’s Minister for Digital Development and Transport has a scheduled visit to Pakistan for three days. During the meeting, he will meet with Pakistani counterparts in the ministries of Information Technology, Aviation, Communications, Railways, and Maritime Affairs. The visit aims to explore bilateral cooperation in the areas of connectivity and information technology.
