Pakistan Sees Significant Reduction in Gender Gap as Voter Count Surpasses 128 Million

The most recent statistics reveal that the number of voters in Pakistan has surpassed 128 million. Significantly, the electoral gender gap has diminished to less than 10 million for the first time in a decade.

Among the registered voters, approximately 59.32 million are women (46.13%), and 69.26 million are men (53.87%).

An analysis of the data indicates that Punjab has the highest contribution to the gender gap, exceeding five million, followed by Sindh (2.24 million), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (1.96 million), and Balochistan (0.660 million). Punjab’s total registered voters are 73.20 million, with 53.44% male and 46.56% female voters.

Sindh has 26.99 million registered voters, comprising 54.13% male and 45.87% female. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has 21.83 million voters, with 54.47% men and 45.53% women. Balochistan has 5.37 million voters, with 56.15% male and 43.85% female.

Notably, Islamabad has over one million voters, with 53.48% male and 47.52% female.

In terms of gender gap distribution, seven districts in Punjab contribute to a gap of around two million. Meanwhile, Balochistan and Punjab have six out of eight districts with over 48% women voters. In Sindh, eight districts have a gap of over 100,000 between male and female voters, with three districts having less than 45% female voters.

Over the years, the gender gap in voters has fluctuated, reaching its lowest point in November 2021 at 11.81 million. The most recent data, after a June 2022 revision of electoral rolls, puts the gender gap at 11.30 million.
