BEIJING: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has underscored the importance of collaboration among member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to leverage the region’s potential for sustained progress and prosperity.

This call for cooperation was articulated during Dar’s meeting with SCO Secretary-General Ambassador Zhang Ming in Beijing, where Dar commenced his four-day visit to China on Monday.

During the meeting, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the SCO Charter and the core principles encapsulated in the “Shanghai Spirit”.

He affirmed Pakistan’s dedication to advancing the SCO’s objectives in both security and development cooperation.

Moreover, discussions encompassed Pakistan’s initiatives and contributions as it currently chairs the SCO Council of Heads of Government.

Ambassador Zhang extended his felicitations to Pakistan on assuming the chairmanship and reiterated the SCO Secretariat’s unwavering support throughout Pakistan’s tenure.

Upon his arrival in Beijing, Dar was warmly received by Ambassador Wang Fu Kang and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi.

In addition to participating in the strategic dialogue between Pakistan and China’s foreign ministers, Dar is scheduled to engage in meetings with Chinese leaders, senior officials, and representatives from prominent business enterprises.

The strategic dialogue, co-chaired by Dar and Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, will cover a wide spectrum of Pakistan-China relations, reflecting the depth and breadth of the longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries.
