ISLAMABAD: In a display of unity with Iran, Pakistan has chosen to honor their brotherly relationship by naming a new Islamabad highway after the nation, as reported by The News on Monday.
The announcement precedes the upcoming visit of Iranian President Seyyed Ibrahim Raisi to Pakistan, scheduled from April 22 to 24. This visit will be the first of its kind by a head of state since the general elections held on February 8th.
As per the information available, the federal government has chosen to rename Eleventh Avenue as Iran Avenue. This decision was made by the cabinet after reviewing the proposal submitted by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) through circulation.
It is essential to mention that the CDA initiated the construction of Eleventh Avenue. In its initial phase, it was extended from Sector D-12 to the North-East corner of E-11, where a junction with Khayaban Iqbal was also built. In the subsequent phase, plans are in place to further expand it up to the IJ Principal Road.
